On Saturday, February 10, 2007, 40 fly tyers met in the Museum for Fly Fest.
This unstructured event (previously held at Reynolds House) was a simply of a group of dedicated fly tyers
gathered to sit and tie flies among friends. "…it don't get better than . this" was heard throughout the
day by those tying and those observing. Jim Martin, www.classictrout.com and CFFCM member, organized, planned
and executed this activity through the on-line forum at Catskill Flies. Getting wind of this in advance,
Agnes made cakes and cookies and had the coffee ready for them. Great seeing the Center come to life in the
middle of the usually lonely and bleak winter months.
This assembly of tyers could not have had a better time. Amidst the flying fur and feathers this group shared techniques,
kibitzed, told bad jokes and good stories, and schmoozed with one another all day. Before you knew it, the day was
over and the Museum was back to normal. There were many new faces to the Center and many visitors came to check it out.
This is the first major tying event to ever occur in the Museum and definitely not the last. |
